Course Information
Erica is currently the only team member who lectures.
Lectures are provided for staff working in neurology or with patients with neurological problems:
- HCAs
- Nurses
- Therapy assistants and TIs
- Qualified physiotherapists and occupational therapists
All lectures are ‘tailor made’ to the needs of the staff group for whom it is organised. This means that the timing, duration and content will be relevant to the needs of the students. The need for the students to travel and incur accommodation expenses is negated if the lecture can be organised in the vicinity of the workplace.
Troubleshooting
Erica also offers ‘trouble shooting’ sessions. This involves Erica visiting the staff, working with them and with their patients, in the clinical setting. This has proved to be a very effective method of learning. The patient is known to the student(s) and all assessment findings and treatment techniques are immediately applicable in the workplace. These sessions are growing in popularity as they facilitate learning in a less formal environment while allowing very specific progression of clinical skills.

For non-qualified therapy staff

For non-therapy staff working in neurology
- Positioning to Maximise Potential for Carers – 1 day
- Transfers in stroke (NOT manual handling) – 4 hrs
- Positioning in stroke – 4 hrs

Erica also visits hospitals for ‘trouble-shooting’ days. At these sessions staff have the opportunity to work alongside Erica and present their clinical difficulties with specific patients. This is an ideal opportunity to work together for and excellent outcome for staff and patients alike.
